In addition to the formatting options common to all objects, and those common to all plots, 2D plots have certain properties, such as overlays, quadrants, gates to display, color levels for density and contour plots, and other specific options which can be formatted.
You can always format a 2D plot by right-clicking on the plot, selecting Format from the pop-up menu, and choosing a category. This method will allow you to use the Preview button to see what the changes would look like without actually accepting the changes. Alternatively, once the 2D plot is selected, you can choose the desired category from the Format tab of the Ribbon.
