Statistic Classifier tokens allow you to classify a statistic in terms of text. For example, you would use a statistic classifier token to characterize a population as "Positive" or "Negative" depending on the number of cells in a gate or quadrant.
The following properties can be edited for Statistic Classifier tokens, by right-clicking on the token:
•Display Text - defines if the token should display the Token Value (default), Token Description, or a user-defined Text.
•Font - changes the font depending on the value of the token based on a list of classifications
•Classification - returns a value assignment of a token based on a list of classifications (see below for more details).
To define the Token Classification, the following properties can be set:
•Token Classification
This is the value you wish to classify. It is possible to enter a formula in this field, similar to a formula you would use for a custom token. Click on the button to the right of the field to insert a Statistic token.. The Format of the Token (Numeric or Text) can be changed using the Format drop down menu.
•List of Classifications
These are the terms by which FCS Express evaluates the value in the Statistic Classifier token. To Add, Edit, or Remove classifications, click on the appropriate button to the right of the list. The order by which the classifiers are applied can be adjusted by using the up and down arrow buttons. Whenever there is overlap in the classification definitions, FCS Express performs the classification in the order of the entries. For example, if a value meets both criteria in the list, it will classify it with the one listed first.
•Alternative Value
This is the value returned if the value in the Token Classification doesn't fit into any of the values in the List of Classification. A default value for the token can be entered if none of the classifications evaluates to true.
In the example shown in Figure 12.30 below, a statistic classifier token as been created to show a qualitative assessment of the Lymphocytes based on the percentage of cells in gate. If the percentage of Lymphocytes is between 30 and 100, the token will return "High". If the percentage of Lymphocytes is between 5 and 30, the token will return "Within Normal Limits." If the percentage of Lymphocytes is between 1 and 5, the token will return "Low." If the percentage of Lymphocytes does not satisfy any of the listed criteria, it will return "Not Present."
