The Quadrant centerpoint and vertices can be adjusted either by using the mouse to click and drag the vertex on the plot, or by entering the centerpoint coordinates in the Selected Gate or Quadrant Properties category of a plot's formatting menu. Quadrants can be updated in real time if desired by choosing the FCS Express User Option to update Gates, Markers, and Quadrants immediately.

Selecting Quadrants

To select the quadrants in order to edit their position, click on the centerpoint, where all the lines meet. A resizing handle will appear at the centerpoint and, if "Floating" is selected in the Quadrant Set properties, over all four vertices as well.

Moving Quadrants

For non-Floating quadrants, click on the centerpoint of the quadrant you want to move. You will know that you clicked on the correct position when the cursor turns into a four-headed arrow 4 headed arrow. Press and hold the mouse left button while the cursor is a four-headed arrow. While holding the mouse left button down, move the cursor to the new central vertex position. Release the mouse to move the quadrants to the new position. If the X or Y centerpoint is locked, the centerpoint cannot be moved along the locked axis. A custom X or Y centerpoint coordinate can be entered or set to a token in the Selected Gate or Quadrants Properties category of the 2D plot's format dialog.

For Floating quadrants, click on the central vertex of the quadrant you want to move. You will know that you clicked on the correct position when the cursor turns into a four-headed arrow. Press and hold the mouse button while the four-headed cursor is over any of the five vertices. While holding the left mouse button down, move the cursor to the new vertex position. Release the mouse to move the vertex to the new position. Note: Much like the Standard Quadrants, the central vertex can move anywhere within the plot. Outer vertices will only be able to move along their original plot edge. Custom quadrant angles can be entered in the quadrants formatting dialogs.

To cancel moving quadrant vertices once you have started and while the mouse left button is still pressed, press the Esc key at any time .

To undo moving quadrant vertices once the movement has been completed, hit Undo on the Quick Access Toolbar or Cmd+Z on the keyboard.

Notes on moving Quadrants:

When a Quadrant Set is moved on one plot, it will be automatically moved on all other plots it is displayed on. By default, a Quadrant Set can be moved on any plot that displays the Quadrant Set. This behavior can be modified and you can chose to allow moving a Quadrant Set (and thus the Quadrant Gates belonging to it) on one plot only (please see below).

If the quadrant centerpoint is linked to the centerpoint on another plot, the centerpoint will move when the centerpoint on the linked plot is moved.

Percentile quadrants cannot be moved manually. Instead, the percentile(s) must be redefined.

Restrict the movement of a Quadrant Set to a specific plot

By default, a Quadrant Set can be moved on any plot that displays the Quadrant Set. This behavior can be modified and you can chose to allow moving a Quadrant Set (and thus the Quadrant Gates belonging to it) on one plot only. To do this:

oRight-click on the Quadrant Set of interest

oFrom the right-click menu, select Allow this gate to be moved on plot....

oSelect the plot you want to restrict the Quadrant Set movement to.

oClick OK.

Note: The procedure above automatically sets the Allow Gate Edit option for the Quadrant of interest to Custom and takes advantage of the Current Selected Object token to restrict the movement to the selected plot.

To restore the default state and thus to allow the movement from any plot that display the Quadrant Set, Format the Quadrant of interest and set its Allow Gate Edit option to True.
