Plots and Other Objects

FCS Express allows you to create your analysis layout similar to the way you would create a PowerPoint presentation. Objects are inserted in the layout using the Insert Tab of the ribbon bar and can be formatted in almost every aspect.

Objects in FCS Express include:

Plots

1D Plots, 2D Plots, Heat Maps and Picture Plots can be used to display and analyze data.

Pictures

Can be used to personalize your layout with logos and images.

Text Boxes

Can be used to add text in any part of the layout.

Gate View

Together with the Gate Navigator, this object allows you to display, edit, and manage all gates.

Data Grid

Can be used to display the raw data in a table with parameter in columns and events in rows.

Spreadsheet and Charts

The integrated Spreadsheet, together with Charts, can be used to perform further calculations on the statistics generated by analyzing your data.

Multi Plot

Can be used to open multiple plots at the same time, displaying different combination of the available parameters. E.g. a single parameter versus all others, or an NxN matrix of plots displaying all the combinations between all parameters.

FCS Express assigns a unique name and number to each object (ie, plots, text boxes, gate views, etc). The default name, if not modified by the user, includes a unique numerical Id and a short description of the object.

Object names can be used to easily discriminate objects within the layout. The object name also assists in selecting the data source when inserting a token on your layout or in setting up batch processing actions. Object names may be customize via the General formatting dialog.

Two common places where object names are displayed:

Navigators

Hover over hints (see figure Figure 5.1 and the paragraph below)

Hover over hints may be visualized on every object by:

1.Clicking on an empty space on the layout so no objects are selected.

2.Hover the mouse over an object.

3.The hint will appear for 5 seconds.

4.Once the hint disappears, hover over hint viewing is then disabled for all objects until the user repeats from step 1 above.
